Crowded House: “Into Temptation” (1988)

One of the tastier offerings from Temple of Low Men.

Kronomyth 2.2: A muddle of nervous words

This song always reminds me of a quiet version of “One Step Ahead.” Not to keep comparing Crowded House to Split Enz, but the one band broke so many rules while the other seemed to stick too closely to the rules of the alternative pop market. In fact, if I have to watch one more video of Crowded House clowning around in a cheaply staged set, I will barf out the entire contents of my stomach. Issued only as a promotional single in the US, a CD single was released in Europe that featured one track each from their first and second album. An edited version of Into Temptation that fades at the end was also made available on a promotional single. It’s a catchy song, but you probably already own Temple of Low Men, so there’s no point hunting down the faded version when you could, you know, always just turn the volume down at the end.
