Roxy Music – “Dance Away” (1979) Review | Loneliness Is a Crowded Room
Kronomyth 8.1: Remix/Remarkable.
Roxy released a markedly different version of Dance Away as the initial single from Manifesto. Now remixed and a minute shorter, the single version of “Dance Away” simply sparkled. In fact, the new version was so good that it replaced the original on subsequent pressings of Manifesto. A video was also released for this song, prominently featuring Gary Tibbs and Dave Skinner from Roxy’s 1979 tour lineup. In the UK, Cry, Cry, Cry was featured as the B side, while US and Canadian audiences got the nonalbum Trash 2 as a trick or treat. “Trash 2” is a sludgier take on the original “Trash,” in effect paralleling the relationship between the original and remixed version of “Dance Away” but in reverse.
