Seriously, nobody told Phil Collins that there was already a song called “Rikki Don’t Lose That Number?” This is why you should never surround yourself with sycophants. Anyway, Collins went ahead anyway and wrote this song featuring the lyrics “Billy, don’t you lose my number,” later claiming that he made up the lyrics and they didn’t have any meaning. It’s a pretty catchy song in its own right, so I’m not saying that Don’t Lose My Number has no artistic merit, I’m just saying that “Trevor, don’t you use my plunger” might have been the higher road. This was also made available in an extended version because, you know, the eighties. The B side was the non-elpee (but not non-CD) We Said Hello Goodbye because, once again, nobody tells this man anything.
