Graham Parker and The Rumour – “Pourin’ It All Out” (1977) Review | The Rich Get Rich and the Poor Get Poured
Kronomyth 2.3: Out standing in the pouring reign.
I know this feeling. Maybe you’ve met someone so together that they make you feel like you’re falling apart—like you just want to empty yourself and start all over. That’s the place where Graham Parker is singing from. Honestly, Pourin’ It All Out didn’t catch my attention on Heat Treatment. There are so many good songs on that album. Help Me Shake It isn’t one of them, by the way. “Pourin’ It All Out,” though, is a lively number that sounds even better on stage. The single didn’t chart, but UK audiences were still trying to figure out what to make of Parker: was he a retrograde rocker, a new wave auteur, or a lone wolf with a crackerjack band? Probably all three some of the time.
